*The following are the expectations for the Learning Skills portion of the Ontario Ministry of Education report card in child friendly terms. Our class will focus on one of these skills every two weeks. At the end of each week, your child will be expected to reflect on and evaluate their progress for the week and set goals using the following checklists.
Collaboration means... (Sept.26-Oct.7th)
*I stay on task and do my fair share of the work when I work with a partner or in a group
*I have positive relationships with the people around me, treating them in appropriate ways
*I take turns and share equipment and classroom supplies with others
*I show respect by not putting others down
Being Organized means...(Oct.10-21st)
*I put my work where it belongs
*I bring the things I need for school every day
*I start working right away, and keep at the job until it is done
*I make plans for how I will get my work done: use a planner, make dot-jot notes, follow steps outlined on the board, etc.
*I put the materials that I have used away in the right place
Initiative means...(Oct.24-Nov.11th)
*I look for opportunities to extend my work and my learning
*I am willing to take risks by trying new and challenging things
*I show an interest in learning by participating and asking questions
*I stand up for myself and others when not treated fairly
Being responsible means...(Nov.14-25th)
*I do what is asked of me in the classroom (e.g., clean up, join the group, line up, etc. when asked)
*I make responsible choices about how I behave in class and on the playground
*I listen attentively in class so that I know what I have to do
*I know and follow the classroom routines without reminders
*I use my time wisely and complete my work on time and with care
*I complete my class work in a way that shows all that I can do, and hand in only my very best.
